In this section you will find the most frequently asked questions and general information that will be very useful for your next event in Yucatan.

Does Yucatan Meetings organize events? 

No. Yucatan Meetings is not an event organizer. It is the official body for the attention and promotion of the meetings industry in Yucatan. It offers the organizer free advice and support to facilitate the realization of the event in the destination. The organizer is responsible for the planning, financing, execution and evaluation of the event.

 

 

Does the support offered by Yucatan Meetings have a cost? 

No. The support offered by Yucatan Meetings is free of charge, and is offered to the organizer according to the number of foreign participants, room nights, and economic spillover generated by the event in the destination. This information is presented to the technical committee that governs the office (Public Trust for the Development of Meetings Tourism in Yucatan) for the assignment of the corresponding support.

 

 

How is support given? 

Yucatan Meetings offers two main types of services: consulting for the organization and support for the operating expenses of the event. The latter are granted prior to an evaluation and approval by a technical committee, and through an agreement between the trust and the organizer. Yucatan Meetings does not grant the economic resource directly to the organizer.

 

 

Can you hold an event for more than 10 thousand people in Yucatan? 

Yes, Merida, the state capital, has 2 convention and exhibition centers, the Centro Internacional de Congresos de Yucatán with 28 halls and 10,000 m2 of floor space; and the recently remodeled Centro de Convenciones Yucatán Siglo XXI with more than 23,000 m2 of floor space. 

 

 

Are there hotels with conference rooms? 

Yes, there are several hotels in Merida with the necessary facilities and services to hold congresses, conventions and exhibitions, some of which are located in the heart of the city and a few steps away from a venue.
